Support to Orphanage's

SWECHHA started  helping Orphanage services. Today there are many orphanage homes with needy Children’s Home shelters  boys and girls in the age group of 4 to 16 years. These abandoned orphan, street children come from different family backgrounds like a father who died of AIDS, mother who committed suicide, alcoholic father and mother left children and is living with other person, or both parents died. In this critical juncture These kids were found by SWECHHA in streets or volunteers brought the children to SWECHHA “Aided” Children Homes. We believe that if these children are not taken care of they may become anti-social. We have rescued them and provided a safe shelter, education support, counselling and extracurricular activities like sports and games.

You are welcome to sponsor these abandoned orphan childrens for their education or living expenses. The children will feel that someone cares about their future and feel happy.

Donors are free to contribute any amount as desired, which will be utilized for the running of orphanage. You can celebrate your special day with the children, sponsor health care or sponsor annual expenses for a specific child. Profiles of these children and other funding options are available below.

The Neglected Orphans of India : Facts to Know

According to (UNICEF), India has 29.6 million orphaned and abandoned children (more than the population of Sri Lanka! In 2017, of these 30 million children, there were only 470,000 children in institutionalized care. In an orphanage or CCI the child has access to some food, limited education (only till age 14) and then at age 18, is abandoned to face the cruel world again!

The Planning Commission and the Government have never conducted a structured survey of these children. This is because there is no one to speak for these vulnerable children : they are not a ‘vote bank’.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) data show there are 5,850 registered CCIs in India. If unregistered ones are included, there are more than 8,000 such institutions. One in five districts in the country does not have even a single orphanage. A majority of districts does not have the minimum three orphanages needed (one for children of less than 6 years of age and one each for boys and girls of 6-18 years respectively).

Adoption in India is consistently less than 6000 children per year, thus addressing only the tip of the problem.

The government’s annual expenditure on child protection (covering the entire gamut of child rights) is Rs 1500 crores : it amounts to less than Rs 2 per child per day, covering food, clothing, education and medical needs!

“…. We are guilty of many errors and many faults, but our worst crime is abandoning the children, neglecting the fountain of life. Many of the things we need can wait. The child cannot. Right now is the time his bones are being formed, his blood is being made, and his senses are being developed. To him we cannot answer ‘Tomorrow,’ his name is “Today.”
